UKARA is an industry-managed database used by airsoft retailers in the UK to verify whether a buyer has a reasonable defence to purchase a Realistic Imitation Firearm (RIF).

Who can obtain UKARA?

UKARA can be obtained by a person who:

  • is 18 years of age or older,

  • participates in regular airsoft games,

  • has played at least 3 games,

  • over a minimum period of 2 months,

  • at the same airsoft site.

How do I obtain active UKARA status?                                          Once the requirements are met, the player should contact the airsoft site where they play regularly. The site operator will submit the player’s details to be registered as an active player in the UKARA database.

Will I receive a UKARA card or document?                                      No. UKARA does not issue cards or physical certificates.

Verification is done solely via the UKARA number and the player’s active or inactive status in the database.

What is a UKARA number used for?                                                The UKARA number is provided to the retailer when purchasing a Realistic Imitation Firearm (RIF).

The retailer checks the number in the database and, if the status is active, may proceed with the sale.

What happens if my UKARA status becomes inactive?                        If you stop attending games regularly, your UKARA status may be marked as inactive. In this case, retailers may refuse to sell a RIF.

Where can I find more information?
